Secretary of Defense Environmental Award for Environmental Restoration – Since 1962, the Secretary of Defense has recognized installations, teams, and individuals for outstanding achievement in environmental management at more than 30,000 sites at active and closing military installations as well as formerly used defense sites across the nation and U.S. territories. The Pyramid Lake team received the environmental award for restoration for successfully recovering unexploded ordnance from a former Navy torpedo and bombing range at a deep alpine lake located on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Reservation. EM-Assist completed the project over 10 times faster and more than $100 million lower than the Federal Government’s original estimate of project duration and cost.
Secretary of the Army Environmental Award for Environmental Restoration – The Secretary of the Army awarded EM-Assist the Environmental Award for Environmental Restoration, noting that the innovative, dynamic project management saved time and money as well as fostered cooperative relationships among the various stakeholders by demonstrating that the Army is a good, responsible neighbor.
Department of the Army, Commander’s Award for Public Service – EM-Assist’s Vice President of Restoration received the Commander’s Award for Public Service for his operational management, contracting, planning, and on- and off-shore operational abilities, which contributed significantly to the $100 million reduction of Department of Defense liability and the successful completion of all Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program (NALEMP) activities at the Pyramid Lake site.
Officer Safety Training Course for Clandestine Methamphetamine Drug Labs –
EM-Assist was recognized with multiple awards for custom eLearning courseware excellence in connection with a 75-minute SCORM-conformant Web-based training course developed for the Department of Justice. The course, targeted to first responder law enforcement officers, provides safety training for officers encountering clandestine methamphetamine drug labs in the line of duty. EM-Assist’s course employed rich media including illustrations, video, photographs, interactive quizzes, and discovery exercises to keep learners engaged. The course has been used by law enforcement agencies across the United States.
